Most astrologers open the birth chart (D1), look at some yogas, maybe one or two dashās, and then guess.
The problem is simple: D1 alone cannot carry the entire weight of prediction.
Classical Jyotish describes Vargas (divisional charts) as finer lenses:
- D1 shows the broad outline,
- Varga charts show the inner quality and purity of that promise.
For example:
- Marriage: D1 may show marriage, but D9 tells whether the marriage will nourish dharma or only social image.
- Career: D1 may show work, but D10 tells how far one rises, and at what cost.
- Children: D1 may show childbirth; D7 shows the nature of the bond and karmic pattern with the child.
- Property and vehicles: D4 and D16 show whether these are comforts or sources of burden.
